Learning

At St. Antony’s we follow a two week timetable which allows us to be flexible and able to meet the needs of our learners. The curriculum is reviewed each year to ensure that we are providing the best education that we can offer for our children. In addition to specific lessons each pupil is part of a form group which spends fifteen minutes together every day either in assembly or in class completing a variety of activities. Details of the curriculum for 2013-14 can be found below.

Key Stage 3

At Key Stage 3, all pupils follow a two week timetable consisting of a total of fifty lessons, with each lesson lasting for sixty minutes:
  • 5 lessons of Religious Studies
  • 7 lessons of English
  • 6 lessons of Maths
  • 5 lessons of Science

The remaining lessons are allocated to a range of foundation subjets that are PSHE, PE, Art, Drama, Music, Technology, French, IT, Geography

Key Stage 4

At Key Stage 4, all pupils follow a two week timetable consisting of a total of fifty lessons, with each lesson lasting for sixty minutes:
There is a `core curriculum` which entails:
  • 5 lessons of Religious Studies
  • 8 lessons of English, Mathematics and Science
  • 1 lesson of Social Studies
  • 2 lessons of IT
  • 3 lessons of PE
  • 5 lessons per option choice
The options for both year 10 and year 11 are Food, Textiles, Graphics, Resistant Materials, Art, Drama, BTEC Music, History, Geography, IT, PE GCSE, PE BTEC, French, Business BTEC (Y11) and Business GCSE (Y10).
In Y11 the options curriculum also includes BTEC Engineering and BTEC Media as well as Motor Vehicle and Hair and Beauty courses run at Trafford College.
