The learning resource centre is a popular and much in demand facility for all pupils. The centre comprises ten computers with a substantial, varied fiction and non-fiction book section. The pupils can access the centre on a daily basis at break, lunch and after school from Monday to Friday within a welcoming atmosphere for homework, coursework and quiet reading.
Refurbished to a high standard, the centre is a welcoming, comfortable and fit for purpose space. More importantly, the regular update of library stock incorporates a range of up to date books for pupils to peruse at school and at home.
St. Antony’s appoints student librarians from different year groups who can find a stimulating environment among their peers and assist their social skills and personal development for work related pursuits.
One pupil is chosen annually for the most prolific reader. They are presented with a shield (donated by a former English and History teacher, Mr. Malcolm Wright) plus a certificate and voucher at Presentation Evening. This encourages and awards pupils who enjoy and have a passion for reading.
