Super star staff from St Antony’s Roman Catholic School in Trafford have been busy making Christmas meals for those who need help this year. The school kitchen is a hive of activity this Christmas Eve as the food is prepared, cooked and packed.
Nicky Gorman, Kitchen Manager at the school has been leading the project with her friend Debbie who used to work at St Antony’s. Together they will be making hundreds of Christmas dinners. Each dinner will have all the trimmings and will be finished with pudding and custard. Each meal will also include biscuits, mince pies and chocolates to ensure a day of treat food for the special day.
Over the last few weeks students, parents and staff have helped raise over £1000 so that the meals could be made. Everyone was so generous and had fun raising money along the way. James Burrows Ltd in Ashton-Under-Lyne donated all of the meat and the potatoes were donated by Ralph Livesey. Tesco kindly donated the crackers – so a true community effort to enable our Christmas meal project to be a success.
The meals will support families of pupils at the school who are in most need, Age Concern in Trafford and Cornerstones.
Fiona Wright Headteacher at the school said “I am so proud of everyone making this happen. Our families and staff have been very generous in raising the money needed and we are really grateful to the companies who donated items. At this time of the year it is really important that we work together as a community to support those in need, and the school is delighted to be able to contribute. I would like to say a special thank you to Nicky and Debbie who are giving up so much of their time and will be working hard in the kitchen today”.
