We were amongst the first of thousands of schools and youth groups across the UK to provide all of our Y7 and Y8 students with lifesaving stop the bleed training last week.
Stop the Bleed Day is a national initiative created by the citizenAID charity in partnership with Greater Manchester Violence Reduction Unit.
Every year in the UK, around 19,000 people die after injury. It is the leading cause of death among children and young adults of 40 years and under. In addition, there are many millions of non-fatal injuries each year.
If someone has an accident, is a victim of knife crime or becomes injured in a mass-casualty incident – the single most preventable cause of death is bleeding.
By participating with this project, we have demonstrated our commitment to our goal of creating a generation of future lifesavers!
A huge thank you to Dr Emily Pye, A & E Doctor and at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, Dr Alistair Rennie, A & E Consultant and Mr Gavin Cameron, Paramedic for NW Ambulance Service for volunteering your time to help our Y7 and Y8 students become potential lifesavers!
